Science at Cranbourne East Primary School centres around developing children’s inherent curiosity about the world around them. Using hands-on activities, students are encouraged to think like scientists. They ask questions, try things out and see what happens, using their senses to observe things and describe their observations.
Science Technology, Engineering and Maths (STEM) forms the foundation of the Science program. Children are encouraged to think about real world problems, then design and engineer solutions based on scaffolded scientific understanding and skills. Children achieve this through teamwork, collaboration and using initiative to solve problems. Creativity and imagination are nurtured by offering students a range of choices to come up with solutions.
A connection to nature and social responsibility towards our world is at the heart of most Science units. Students engage in all streams of scientific understanding including Earth and Space, Biological, Physical and Chemical Science in addition to a range of scientific skills.
