Procedures for when your child is away.
If your child is away please send a note or ring the school on (03) 5990 0400 (Select Option 1 to leave a message on the Absence Line).
When your child is late, please either phone, send a note or accompany your child to the office.
At any time you can leave a message on the answering system. The message will ask you to leave the child’s name, date and the reason for your child’s absence or lateness. We request that you use the message service if you are unable to send a note or accompany your child to the office. Parents can obtain a pink slip from the office or teacher to complete, stating why your child is away. Please return the pink slips to the teacher or the office.
SMS messages are now sent to families on the day the child is away and you have not contacted the school to give an explanation for their absence.
If these procedures are not followed, it will result in a letter being sent home to families requesting an explanation of your child’s late arrival or absence. You will also receive a phone call from your child’s teacher or the Primary Welfare Officer if the school has not received an explanation.
Of course there are times such as illness and family circumstances when a child needs to be away, but these should be a rarity rather than a norm and need to be communicated to the school.
Remember it is reassuring to know that you increase your child’s chances of success just by making sure they turn up for school every day.
