Wellbeing

Student Wellbeing

Student wellbeing is fostered through the comprehensive Student Engagement Guidelines and Policy and is reflected in the school values — our 5R’s: Responsibility, Respect, Resilience, Relationships and Rigour.

At CEPS there are several people that parents and students can speak to about concerns they might have. The homegroup teacher is the first point of contact, while team leaders and David Muzyk Assistant Principal (Wellbeing and Engagement) are also available for advice and support.

In addition, CEPS has a dedicated Wellbeing Team to further support students and families. This team includes a Social Worker, Wellbeing Leader, School Psychologist and a Disability Inclusion Learning Specialist, who work together to provide targeted support and ensure that every student has the opportunity to thrive both academically and personally.

CEPS is also proud to support families through our Community Food Pantry, which is open to all families who may need additional food assistance. Students may also be eligible to receive uniform support through State Schools’ Relief if their family holds a relevant Centrelink card. Families seeking this support are encouraged to contact the front office for further information and assistance.

Inclusion

At Cranbourne East Primary School, we are dedicated to providing a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that upholds the rights and wellbeing of every student and staff member.

We are a coeducational school with a vibrant community that reflects a wide range of cultures and backgrounds, including our valued First Nations students.

We are committed to fostering a school community where everyone is welcomed, respected, and celebrated. At CEPS, students are supported to reach their full potential regardless of their background or personal attributes, including race, language, religious beliefs, gender identity, disability, or sexual orientation.

Our dedicated Wellbeing and Inclusion Team plays a vital role in supporting students and families. This team works closely with teachers, parents, and external services to ensure that every child feels included, engaged, and able to succeed both socially and academically.

Inclusion and diversity are at the heart of who we are. We proudly celebrate significant events such as Harmony Day, International Women’s Day, NAIDOC Week, and Reconciliation Week, which provide opportunities for our students to learn from one another and appreciate the rich diversity within our community.

SWPBS

School Wide Positive Behaviour Support

At Cranbourne East Primary School, we use School-Wide Positive Behaviour Support (SWPBS) to create a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment for every student.

SWPBS is a proactive approach that sets clear expectations, explicitly teaches them, and celebrates students when they demonstrate positive behaviours. We believe behaviour is learned in the same way as academics—when mistakes are made, we provide feedback and guide students towards the expectations we want to see.

The CEPS Way reinforces positive behaviour through our sticker reward system. When students demonstrate our core values of Respect, Responsibility, and Resilience, they can earn stickers as a tangible recognition of their efforts. These rewards motivate students, encourage positive choices, and allow them to be celebrated for showing our school values and expectations.

Our school also uses a consistent whole-school approach to behaviour called the Fair Response Continuum. This framework ensures responses are consistent across the school, that consequences are logical, and that students are always given the opportunity to learn and grow from their mistakes.

Through SWPBS and the Fair Response Continuum, we are building a consistent and inclusive school culture where every student feels valued, supported, and encouraged to achieve their best.
