Health and Physical Education

At Cranbourne East Primary School, our Physical Education Program develops the knowledge, skills and confidence that will enable our students to lead active and healthy lifestyles.

We take pride in providing all students with a weekly 60-minute session taught by our Physical Education team. We have a range of spaces that are utilised in the teaching and learning program including: 2 basketball courts, full sized oval, agora synthetic turfed area & a full size indoor gymnasium. Our storeroom is full of engaging, colourful equipment which is used to teach skills across all areas of the Health and Physical Education curriculum.

Our Curriculum draws directly from the Victorian Curriculum. From Foundation to Year 2 students learn to develop their Fundamental Movement Skills, which are the building blocks that provide a solid foundation for students to be confident and competent movers.

During Foundation to Year 2 students focus on developing their Fundamental Movement Skills through a variety of fun games and rotations. This allows students to develop movement confidence in a safe, fun and supportive environment.

From Year 3 to Year 6 students focus on further developing and refining their Fundamental Movement Skills through a range of modified games and activities. Students work on becoming more confident in applying their skills in sport specific settings using a Game Sense approach. Students also examine the essential elements required when leading a healthy and active lifestyle.

In Year 4 to Year 6, students also participate in our Bike Education program which focuses on developing students riding and road safety skills to enable them to become safe and confident riders in our community.

At Cranbourne East Primary School, students also have the opportunity to participate in a wide variety of extracurricular activities including:

  • Swimming and Water Safety Program
  • Cross Country
  • Athletics Carnival
  • Hooptime Basketball
  • National Rugby League Gala days
  • Lightning Premiership (Interschool sports)
  • Recess Sport Clubs & Activities

Cranbourne East Primary School is also an active member of School Sport Victoria’s Cranbourne South District. Students are provided with every opportunity to participate in events that are organised by School Sport Victoria.
