Riding a bike is a fantastic way for students to get to and from school. Our Bike Education program at Cranbourne East Primary School reinforces these skills by teaching students from Year 3 to Year 6 how to safely ride a bike and teaching them the health benefits of cycling.
The students learn a range of riding skills from the basics of riding a bike, including balance, braking and turning through to the more challenging skills of using hand signals and head checks. The safe use of bikes, helmets and basic road rules are also covered to ensure students understand how to safely negotiate their way through the local community whilst on their bikes. The program concludes with a supervised ride through the local community.
